Bulletin for April 2026

Dear Members

Well, a month ago I wrote about the wonderful Spring-like weather we were enjoying at the time: now we are all basking in truly mid-Summer conditions!

Thankfully this weather prevailed on Saturday 18th April when “Save Bull Hill” and the LRA organised a “Picnic in the Park” (aka Bull Hill).  We set up close to the Children’s playground and had a splendid couple of hours enjoying our sandwiches and discussing what will be lost if/when the whole area is developed.

As I reported in the last Bulletin, there will be no more news regarding the proposed development until after the elections on 7th May, but that is not so far away now.  Whether when we are all up-dated, we rejoice in a substantially revised design or whether we struggle to detect any meaningful changes, only time will tell!  However, rest assured as soon as we have any news, we will be in touch with you all.

There appears to be progress regarding the development of the Royal Oak public house on Kingston Road at last.  MVDC Planners have indicated that consent would be granted for 20 flats and a Community Facility, but without the need for Affordable Housing if the owners agree by the end of June to a “Late-Stage Review” of viability.  This review would seek to confirm later on in the development process whether Affordable Housing still remains unviable given any changes in costs and values.

Dates for your Diary:

0n Tuesday 26th May, the “Policing Your Community Roadshow” will come to Leatherhead. Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend, Chief Constable Tim De Meyer and local Commanders will be present to discuss policing in the local area.  The event will take place at the Letherhead Institute from 18.00 to 19.30.  To attend make a reservation via – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/policing-your-community-mole-valley-borough-tickets-1985433963431

On Thursday, 25th June, from 2.00pm till 7.00pm, SES is organising a Water Roadshow, again at the Institute.  For further information and to book a place, please see SES Water at https://www.seswater.co.uk/about-us/our-community/ses-roadshows

Well, the garden now beckons, so I will sign off until the end of May, or earlier if there is news to report about Transform Leatherhead/Bull Hill.

With all best wishes

Caroline Brown
